Orange: Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Hit & Run Crash

05.03.2020 | 1:00 AM | ORANGE – A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Lewis Street and Garden Grove Boulevard near the border of Orange and Garden Grove around 1:00 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a male pedestrian down in the roadway suffering from major trauma after being struck by a vehicle.

Firefighter paramedics rushed the pedestrian to nearby UCI Medical Center in serious condition.

The driver that struck the pedestrian fled the scene.

A white Ford Mustang driven by a suspected DUI driver was stopped just north of where the pedestrian was struck but officers later determined it was not related to the hit-and-run crash.

Witnesses reported that the pedestrian may have been skateboarding but that information could not be confirmed.

All lanes of Lewis Street between Garden Grove Boulevard and Chapman Avenue were closed until further notice while authorities investigate.
