05.18.2024 | 11:40 PM | ORANGE – A pedestrian sustained major injuries after being struck while in a roadway, late Saturday night.
The traffic collision involving a pedestrian occurred on South Main Street near West Culver Avenue around 11:40 PM.
When authorities arrived they located a 1997 Honda Accord with front-end damage along with a male adult down in the roadway.
Medics treated the pedestrian on scene before rushing him to UCI Medical Center with major head injuries.
The driver of the Honda remained on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement. She was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Initial reports indicate the Honda was traveling southbound in the #3 lane when it collided with the pedestrian who was in lanes and out of a crosswalk.
It was unclear why the pedestrian was in lanes but police indicated he was a transient.
All southbound lanes of Main Street were closed at West Palmyra Avenue for several hours while police investigated.
