Orange: Motorcyclist Struck & Killed By Suspected DUI Driver

09.20.2021 | 5:27 PM | ORANGE – A man was killed when a suspected DUI driver made an unsafe U-turn in front of his motorcycle causing a crash, Monday evening.

The crash occurred on Orange Olive Road just north of Meats Avenue around 5:27 PM when a Nissan Altima collided with a motorcyclist.

Authorities arriving on scene located the rider down and pronounced him deceased on scene after life-saving measures failed to revive him. The identity of the rider was not immediately released.

Preliminary reports indicate the motorcycle rider was traveling northbound on Orange Olive Road when the driver of the Nissan made an unsafe U-turn in front of the bike.

The driver of the Nissan, later identified as 24-year-old Eric Lopez, of Anaheim, was uninjured and later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while under the influence. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

All lanes of Orange Olive Road were closed between Meats and Vista Del Gaviota avenues while police investigated the fatal crash.
