Orange: Hit & Run DUI Driver Arrested With Community Help

08.24.2019 | 2:13 AM | ORANGE – A hit-and-run DUI driver who fled on foot after crashing into at least four parked cars was in custody thanks to the help of the community, early Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a hit-and-run traffic collision near the intersection of South Parker Street and West La Veta Avenue around 2:13 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a vehicle appeared to have struck at least four parked vehicles and was blocking lanes.

Nearby members of the community quickly informed officers that the driver had fled on foot northbound.

Additional units arriving on scene located the suspect who was being detained less than half a block away by several community members.

Firefighter paramedics evaluated the man on scene but he refused treatment.

After a battery of field sobriety tests and admitting to drinking 2-3 Modelo beers earlier in the evening, the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Northbound lanes of South Parker Street were temporarily blocked while authorities worked to investigate.
