04.04.2020 | 1:15 AM | ORANGE – A driver who led officers on a high-speed pursuit was taken into custody after apparently running out of gas, early Saturday morning.
Officers from the Anaheim Police Department attempted to stop a silver sedan reported stolen around 1:15 AM.
The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and sped off onto the southbound SR-57 Freeway as speeds in excess of 100+ MPH.
California Highway Patrol officers took over the pursuit which began heading southbound on the I-5 Freeway.
A successful spike strip was deployed but the driver continued to flee, exiting the I-5 Freeway at Jamboree Road and continuing northbound into the North Tustin area.
Still driving at high speeds the suspect fled through North Tustin into Santa
Ana before heading northbound on Bristol Street towards Orange.
A police helicopter overhead reported the suspect appeared to be running out of gas before the vehicle came to a stop on West La Veta Avenue near South Bedford Road at around 1:50 AM.
The driver surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
