02.08.2026 | 11:23 PM | ORANGE – Four people were sent to hospitals in a chain-reaction crash involving a drunk driver, late Sunday night.
The first collision was reported on the southbound SR-57 Freeway north of Orangewood Avenue around 11:23 PM when a black vehicle traveling at high-speeds collided with the center divider and overturned.
Following the first collision, a white SUV, a grey minivan, black Tesla, and pedestrian collided.
When medics arrived they found five people with apparent injuries and declared a mass-casualty incident to request additional medical resources.
After receiving medical treatment, four of the victims were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals. A fifth person declined transport to a hospital.
Several other vehicles were damaged after striking debris from the collision but no other injuries were reported.
A California Highway Patrol incident information page indicated that one driver was arrested for drunk driving and released for treatment at a hospital.
All southbound lanes of the SR-57 Freeway were stopped for about an hour while authorities attended to the scene.
