11.27.2021 | 12:25 AM | ORANGE – A suspected DUI driver lost control of her vehicle causing a fiery crash that ignited brush on a freeway transition road, early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred on the transition road from the northbound SR-55 Freeway to the westbound SR-22 Freeway around 12:25 AM.
Units arriving on scene located a grey 2016 Jeep Renegade that had lost control before crashing and later bursting into flames.
The driver of the Jeep was able to exit before flames consumed her vehicle and was later transported by ambulance to OC Global Medical Center.
Firefighters worked for about 15 minutes to extinguish the car fire that had also spread to brush on shoulder of the freeway.
A caller had reported Jeep as being driven by a possible DUI driver moments before the crash occurred.
A forensic blood tech was requested for an evidentiary blood draw from the suspect as officers continue to investigate the involvement of drugs or alcohol, according to a CHP incident log.
All lanes of the transition road were closed until crews could remove the vehicle, part of which had burned into the pavement, the log indicated.
