The bizarre chase began to unfold around 12:40 AM after authorities attempted to stop a suspect in a black 2005 Dodge Ram that was wanted in connection with kicking down his girlfriend’s front door in the 2200 block of Oakcrest Circle in Yorba Linda.
The driver of the Dodge failed to yield when authorities attempted to stop the pickup truck and fled from them onto the westbound SR-91 Freeway.
While in pursuit authorities were informed that the driver was reportedly experiencing breathing difficulties and would be driving to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange instead of pulling over.
Police positioned themselves at the hospital as the chase transitioned to the southbound SR-57 Freeway and ultimately exited onto La Veta Avenue.
Once in the hospital parking lot authorities conducted a high-risk traffic stop and detained the driver along with a passenger.
Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene and transported the driver about 100 feet to the nearby hospital.
Additional details regarding the pursuit or preceding incident were not immediately available.
