02.23.2024 | 6:23 PM | ORANGE – A pedestrian was dead, one man was under arrest, and the drivers of two vehicles that fled were being sought in connection with a deadly crash, Friday evening.
Officials responded to the reported traffic collision on West Lincoln Avenue near North Berkeley Street around 6:23 PM.
At the scene authorities located a pedestrian down in lanes and a white pickup truck with front-end damage nearby.
Medics pronounced the pedestrian deceased while police administered field sobriety tests on the driver of the pickup truck who was later placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI.
A California Highway Patrol incident log classified the traffic collision as a hit-and-run involving three vehicles. Video from the scene showed only one vehicle and driver suggesting that the remaining two drivers fled the scene.
Additional information regarding the deadly hit-and-run crash was not immediately available though a CHP representative indicated further information would be forthcoming.
Both directions of West Lincoln Avenue are closed between North Batavia Street and Glassell Street for several hours while police investigated.
