Orange: Chapman Undie Run Brings Hundreds Despite Frigid Temperatures

12.14.2023 | 12:00 AM | ORANGE – Hundreds of students came together and stripped down into their underwear to run from campus to the Orange Circle and back despite frigid temperatures in a campus tradition, early Thursday morning.

About a thousand students gathered on the Chapman University campus to rally before running down Glassell Street to the historic Orange Circle and back as finals week came to a close.

Students from all walks of life endured temperatures of 48-degrees Fahrenheit with minimum clothing to participate in the campus tradition that brings exemplifies community inclusivity and equality while providing a literal way for students to cool off from finals week stress.

Police and university officials were on hand and closed Glassell Street from East Walnut Avenue to Plaza Square, near Chapman Avenue, to accommodate the event.

Road closures lasted until about 12:45 AM though students continued to mingle back on campus.

Medics responded to at least one medical emergency apparently related to the event but no serious injuries were reported.
