Orange: Box Truck Carrying U.S. Mail Overturns, Spills Mail Across Freeway

10.19.2024 | 2:25 AM | ORANGE – A truckload of mail was spilled across lanes after a box truck overturned, early Saturday morning.

Callers reported an overturned box truck on the transition road from the eastbound SR-22 Freeway to the northbound SR-57 Freeway around 2:25 AM.

When authorities arrived they located the box truck on its side with tons of U.S. Mail spilled across lanes.

Firefighters had to use a ladder to assist the uninjured driver from the top of the box truck.

The transition road was closed to traffic while postal inspectors responded to assist with removal of the mail.

Most of the mailpieces appeared addressed to locations in La Habra and Cypress.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation but speed appeared to be a factor.
