Newport Beach: Second-Alarm Fire Spreads Inside Apartment Building

01.14.2021 | 12:19 AM | NEWPORT BEACH – A second-alarm fire that spread inside the walls of an apartment building prompted evacuations but was quickly contained by firefighters, early Thursday morning.

The fire was first reported on the second-floor of an apartment building located in the 200 block of McNeil Lane around 12:19 AM.

When crews arrived on scene they located smoke emanating from electrical sockets on the second-floor of the building and determined a fire was spreading within the walls.

Firefighters evacuated nearby apartments and worked to extinguish the fire.

Flames spread to a third-story apartment but were quickly extinguished by firefighters.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
