Newport Beach: One Pedestrian Killed, Another Injured In DUI Crash

02.28.2026 | 2:03 AM | NEWPORT BEACH – One person was killed and another was injured following a suspected DUI crash on the Balboa Peninsula, early Saturday morning.

The deadly collision was reported in the 2300 block of Newport Boulevard around 2:03 AM when witnesses say a white Corvette was speeding northbound and lost control.

The Corvette struck two pedestrians including one who died at the scene. The second pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

The driver of the Corvette, a male adult, was arrested after performing a series of field sobriety tests.

All north and southbound lanes of Newport Boulevard were closed between 26th and 22nd streets while police investigated the deadly collision.
