Newport Beach: Motor Officer Broadsided By Car

01.16.2021 | 1:54 PM | NEWPORT BEACH – A motor officer was rushed to an area hospital after being broadsided by a car, Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred shortly before 2:00 PM at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Harbor View DriveĀ  when a silver 2011 Honda Civic struck a 2015 BMW R1200RT being driven by a Newport Beach police officer.

Firefighter paramedics rushed the downed officer from the scene to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

The driver of the Honda who struck the officer was uninjured and appeared to be cooperating with police.

Several witnesses and good samaritans also stopped to assist.

All lanes of MacArthur Boulevard between San Miguel Drive and Pacific Coast Highway were closed while officers investigated the crash.
