Newport Beach: Man Struck, Killed By Multiple Vehicles

08.10.2025 | 9:59 PM | NEWPORT BEACH – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle before an additional vehicle struck his body, Sunday night.

The deadly collision was reported on the southbound SR-73 Freeway just south of Jamboree Road around 9:59 PM.

Initial reports indicate a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van collided with a male pedestrian who was in lanes of traffic.

A second vehicle, a white Tesla Model X, failed to slow despite stopped traffic and emergency warning lights and ran over the pedestrians head without stopping.

First responders confirmed the pedestrian was deceased based on obvious signs of death and implemented a temporary freeway closure while they attended to the collision scene.

Reports from the scene suggest the pedestrian may have intentionally jumped in front of oncoming traffic but an investigation is still ongoing.
