04.23.2023 | 7:12 PM | NEWPORT BEACH – A two-alarm fire ripped through the roof of a home after appearing to spread from a chimney, Sunday evening.
The fire was reported at a home in the 1500 block of Warwick Lane around 7:12 PM.
When crews arrived they located heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof of a two-story home and began efforts to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters extinguished the bulk of the fire in about 30 minutes although flames had already spread across the roof and into the second-floor of the home.
A plethora of firefighters remained on scene as part of a two-alarm assignment to ensure the fire is completely extinguished.
Two occupants from the home escaped without injury but will likely be unable to return due to the extensive fire damage.
A fire investigator is working to determine the cause of the blaze.
