Mission Viejo: Driver Dies In Crash On Freeway Offramp

07.23.2026 | 12:08 AM | MISSION VIEJO – The driver of a vehicle died after a crash on a freeway offramp, early Thursday morning.

The collision occurred on the Oso Parkway offramp from the southbound I-5 Freeway around 12:08 AM when a white sedan apparently lost control and crashed, according to a CHP media website.

The force of the impact left the driver trapped in the vehicle and caused a small fire to ignite, according to the CHP media website. That was later extinguished by officers with a fire extinguisher, according to radio traffic.

Medics worked to free the trapped driver in a matter of minutes but ultimately pronounced them deceased on scene, according to radio traffic.

The offramp was closed for at least an hour while crews attended to the scene.

Officers were continuing to look for a possible second occupant of the vehicle who may have fled or was ejected, video from the scene and radio traffic confirmed.

Additional information regarding the deadly collision was not immediately available.
