La Habra: Shooting Outside Police Station Leaves Suspect Dead, Officer Injured

08.06.2021 | 7:04 PM | LA HABRA – A police officer was injured and a suspect was dead after a shooting broke out in front of a police station, Friday night.

The shooting broke out around 7:04 PM as officers arrived at the front entrance of the La Habra Police Department, located at 150 North Euclid Street, regarding reports of a road rage incident that had occurred on a nearby freeway.

When officers made contact with an individual believed to be the suspect in the road rage incident an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Firefighter paramedics pronounced the suspect deceased on scene and rushed the officer to UCI Medical Center in critical, but stable, condition.

The suspect was later identified by officials as 22-year-old Matthew Tuan Tran, of Anaheim.

Police say a firearm believed to be the suspect’s was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
