Irvine: Woman Pinned Under Car After Freeway Crash

11.02.2021 | 2:30 AM | IRVINE – A woman was pinned under an overturned vehicle after a freeway crash that injured four people, early Tuesday morning.

The crash was reported on the southbound I-405 Freeway just south of Irvine Center Drive around 2:30 AM.

Units arriving on scene located an black Chevrolet Astro that had overturned after striking a cluster of attenuator barrels filled with sand.

Four people from the van were injured, including one woman who was pinned underneath the vehicle.

Firefighter paramedics quickly worked to free the trapped woman by stabilizing the overturned vehicle and using hydraulic jacks to lift it.

The woman, along with three other occupants from the vehicle, were rushed to area hospitals. At least one of the injuries was described by a CHP incident log as major.

All lanes of the southbound I-405 Freeway were halted for about 30 minutes as first responders attended to the incident.
