06.12.2020 | 9:56 PM | IRVINE – A man had to be cut from his vehicle after it flew off a roadway and landed at the bottom of a freeway on ramp, Friday night.
Authorities responded to multiple calls reporting a vehicle that flew off Newport Coast Drive near the SR-73 Freeway shortly before 10:00 PM.
Units arriving on scene located the vehicle on the bottom of the northbound SR-73 Freeway on ramp from Newport Coast Drive with the driver still trapped inside.
Firefighter paramedics stabilized the vehicle and extricated the solo male driver in less than 20 minutes.
The driver was treated on scene before being transported to OC Global Medical Center in unknown condition.
Initial reports indicate the driver was traveling eastbound on Newport Coast Drive when his vehicle left the roadway and crashed through a bush before flying about 70-feet down to the bottom of the on ramp.
