Irvine: Trash Truck Dumps Fiery Load Into Street

08.16.2023 | 6:12 PM | IRVINE – A trash truck dumped its load in a street after some of the contents caught fire, Wednesday evening.

Firefighters noticed smoke coming from a Waste Management trash truck and notified its driver, who pulled over on Reynolds near Red Hill avenues, around 6:12 PM.

The driver of the truck dumped its load of trash onto the street to prevent it from spreading to the cab of the vehicle and allowing firefighters to douse the blaze.

The bulk of the fire was extinguished within minutes though cleanup of the mess was expected to take a couple hours.

No injuries were reported and it was unclear what contents might have sparked the blaze.
