Irvine: Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Into Occupied OCTA Bus

07.20.2019 | 10:01 PM | IRVINE – A suspected DUI driver was injured after crashing into an Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) bus, Saturday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving an OCTA bus at the intersection of Main Street and Harvard Avenue around 10:01 PM.

Units arriving on scene located Jeep SUV that had rear-ended an OCTA bus servicing route 53 to Anaheim.

The driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries and transported to an area hospital with minor injuries while police investigated the man on suspicion of DUI.

Only one of several patients onboard the bus suffered injuries and that patient refused treatment after being assessed by firefighter paramedics.

The crash rendered both vehicles undriveable and a replacement bus had to be called to ferry the remaining passengers.

Initial reports indicate the bus was slowing to stop at a bus stop when the Jeep rear-ended it.
