Irvine: Suspected DUI Crash Leaves One Dead, Two Others Injured

06.13.2021 | 5:28 AM | IRVINE – One person was dead and two others were injured after a suspected DUI crash, Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a crash on the northbound I-5 Freeway just south of Culver Drive around 5:28 AM.

When units arrived on scene they located a grey Honda Accord that collided with the right shoulder guardrail before coming to rest in nearby bushes.

One person from the vehicle, believed to be a passenger, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Two other occupants were transported by firefighter paramedics to OC Global Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately known.

A blood technician was requested to perform an evidentiary blood draw on one of the victims from the crash in an apparent DUI investigation.

Several lanes of the northbound I-5 Freeway were closed while authorities investigated the fatal crash.
