Irvine: Recyclables Catch Fire Inside Waste Management Plant

12.10.2020 | 7:09 PM | IRVINE – A pile of recyclables caught fire at a Waste Management recycling facility, Thursday night.

The fire broke out around 7:09 PM at a Waste Management  facility located in the 16100 block of Construction Circle East.

Firefighters arriving on scene located a large pile of recyclables in a semi-enclosed structure and began efforts to extinguish the blaze.

The majority of the fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes but crews were expected to remain on scene for hours to conduct overhaul.

The cause of the fire is unknown but other similar fires have occurred at the location in the past few years.
