Irvine: One Dead In Wrong-Way Crash, Five Others Injured

05.10.2025 | 1:14 AM | IRVINE – One man was killed and five others were injured in a wrong-way crash on the 241 Freeway, early Saturday morning.

The crash was reported on the northbound SR-241 Freeway about two miles north of the SR-133 Freeway when a black Honda sedan collided head-on with a black BMW sedan around 1:14 AM.

The impact of the collision left the Honda’s driver, a male, deceased and the vehicle straddling a center median.

Five occupants from the BMW were injured in the crash and rushed to nearby trauma centers, though all appeared conscious.

Initial reports indicate the Honda was traveling wrong-way when it collided with the BMW resulting in the deadly collision.

All lanes of the northbound SR-241 Freeway were closed at the SR-133 Freeway for hours while authorities investigated the deadly collision.
