Irvine: Motorcycle Pursuit Ends When Rider Runs Out of Gas

06.23.2023 | 10:28 PM | IRVINE – A motorcyclist that fled from police was apprehended after apparently running out of gas, Friday night.

The pursuit began when Orange police attempted to stop the rider of the blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of Riverdale and Tustin avenues around 10:28 PM.

The daredevil rider fled from officers leading them on a pursuit that spanned numerous freeways and reached speeds in excess of 100 MPH and lasted about 45 minutes.

After speeding through John Wayne Airport the rider continued southbound on the I-405 Freeway before appearing to run out of gas south of the SR-133 Freeway.

Officers quickly apprehended the rider who was later transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

It was unclear why the rider fled or what charges he might face though police indicated he was later booked into the Orange County Jail.
