Irvine: Firefighters Quickly Free Driver Trapped After Two-Car Crash

04.03.2020 | 11:42 PM | IRVINE – One person was quickly freed after a two-car crash left them trapped in their vehicle, late Friday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision on MacArthur Boulevard near Red Hill Avenue around 11:42 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a two-car crash involving a red Ford Mustang and a white Dodge Challenger.

Both drivers were injured and the driver of the Dodge was trapped inside his vehicle.

Additional units responded due to the entrapment and quickly freed the man.

Firefighter paramedics treated both drivers on scene before transporting them to area trauma centers in unknown condition.

A clerk who works at the Mobil Gas Station adjacent to the crash location reported the driver of the Dodge had filled up at the station before making an illegal left-turn which caused the collision.

All westbound lanes of MacArthur Boulevard were closed at Red Hill Avenue for at least an hour while authorities worked to clear the scene.
