05.16.2020 | 2:47 AM | IRVINE – A fiery crash that destroyed an Audi RS5 coupe at the Great Park was under investigation, early Saturday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision with fire on Great Park Boulevard just west of the Bosque traffic circle in the Great Park around 2:47 AM.
Units arriving on scene located the nardo grey Audi RS5 coupe with major damage and fire showing from the engine compartment.
Firefighters quickly doused the flames and learned that both the driver and passenger had escaped without serious injury.
The high-speed crash prompted a closure of Great Park Boulevard while officers worked to investigate the cause of the crash.
It was not immediately clear whether drugs, alcohol, or street racing played a role but officers were scene performing a drug recognition investigation on the driver.
