Irvine: Fiery Crash Into Tree Leaves Driver Dead

06.20.2021 | 12:50 AM | IRVINE – A fiery crash into a tree left a man in his 20s dead near a neighborhood park, early Sunday morning.

The crash was reported around 12:50 AM on Encore at Medallion, near Mockingbird Park in the Stonegate community.

When authorities arrived on scene they located a black Volkswagen sedan that had struck a tree at the end of a T-intersection.

The vehicle was engulfed in flames and one victim, believed to be the driver, was pulled from the burning wreckage by officers.

Firefighters doused the vehicle fire and attempted life-saving measures on the victim.

Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was later identified by coroner officials as Nicholas Beamon, of Santa Ana.

A police press release indicated Beamon was only 20-years-old but a release by coroner officials indicated Beamon was 21-years-old.

The intersection was cordoned off by police as they conducted an investigation into the circumstances that led up to the fiery fatal crash.
