06.04.2023 | 6:08 PM | IRVINE – Bystanders are credited with saving the life of a young girl who was in the midst of drowning in a public pool, Sunday evening.
Callers reporting discovering a child at the bottom of the Royal Oak Pool, located in the 16400 block of Royal Oak, around 6:08 PM.
While first responders rushed to the scene bystanders jumped into action, pulling the girl from the pool and performing CPR to resuscitate her.
Medics arrived quickly and took over care of the girl while she was rushed to an area hospital. Though her exact condition was unknown, the girl is expected to service.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the near drowning and it was unclear if any parents or guardians were present.
As students embark on summer break and warm temperatures arrive swimmers and parents are encouraged to watch the water and to take up first aid and CPR training.
