Huntington Beach: Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Police Officer

08.27.2022 | 8:00 PM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – A 45-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a police vehicle driven by an officer responding to a call, early Saturday morning.

The deadly collision occurred as a 22-year-old police officer was traveling northbound on North Pacific Avenue near Broadway in a Ford Explorer patrol vehicle around 5:35 AM.

The officer’s vehicle struck an unidentified male pedestrian who sustained fatal injuries and later died at an area hospital.

It was unclear if the officer, who was responding to an unspecified radio call, was traveling with his lights and siren activated or whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the collision was encouraged to contact the California Highway Patrol’s Westminster Area Office at (714) 892-4426.
