
08.07.2021 | 10:50 AM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – A family dispute related to the upcoming sale of a home is believed to have led to a shooting that left one person dead and three others injured, Saturday morning.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at a home in the 4500 block of Operetta Drive around 10:50 AM.
When units arrived they located three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds in front of the home.
Believing the suspect was barricaded inside officers worked to evacuate the three victims from the area to awaiting ambulances.
All three victims were transported to area an area hospital for treatment.
One of the victims, an adult male, succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Another victim was treated at the hospital and later released while the third remains hospitalized but expected to survive.
During the evacuation efforts a male believed to be the shooter exited the home and was detained without incident.
He was determined to have suffered a superficial gunshot wound and also transported to a local hospital for treatment before being released.
Out of an abundance of caution a SWAT team responded and cleared the home and surrounding area to ensure there was no threat to the community.
Preliminary information suggests the shooting stemmed from a family dispute involving the sale of the home and that gunfire broke out when one family member arrived at the home with real estate professionals.
