Huntington Beach: Officers & Suspects Exposed To Fentanyl During Traffic Stop

01.21.2023 | 11:45 PM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – Two police officers and as many suspects were exposed to fentanyl during a traffic stop prompting fire officials to respond to decontaminate them, late Saturday night.

The exposure occurred during a traffic stop near the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Beach Boulevard shortly before 11:45 PM.

Details regarding how the incident occurred were limited but two police officers and two suspects from the traffic stop were reportedly exposed to the substance believed to be fentanyl.

A Hazmat team along with medics responded to the scene to evaluate the officers and suspects who were all conscious and alert. None of the individuals appeared to be in distress although the extent of their conditions were not immediately available.

A sizeable quantity of fentanyl was said to have been recovered from the vehicle that officers originally stopped.
