Huntington Beach: Motorcycle Rider Seriously Injured, Passenger Killed In Crash

09.11.2021 | 8:17 PM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – A motorcycle rider was seriously injured and his passenger killed after colliding with a vehicle, Saturday night.

The crash occurred around 8:17 PM on Pacific Coast Highway just south of Warner Avenue.

Units arriving on scene located a 2019 Harley Davidson Street Bob that had collided with a 2015 Mazda CX-5.

The motorcycle driver, later identified as 21-year-old John Murray III, of Huntington Beach, was found in the roadway and rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries.

His passenger, later identified as 22-year-old Meghan Wautlet, of Huntington Beach, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Initial reports indicate that the Harley was traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway at a high rate of speed when it collided with the Mazda as it was making a legal U-turn from the northbound side.

The driver of the Mazda was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with law enforcement.

Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
