12.19.2021 | 6:41 PM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – A married couple was arrested after trying to deceive police after fleeing a hit-and-run crash that left a 66-year-old man dead, Sunday evening.

The arrest came shortly after authorities found the 66-year-old man down in lanes on Pacific Coast Highway near 24th Street around 6:41 PM.

The man, who had injuries consistent with being struck by a southbound vehicle, was pronounced deceased on scene.

While investigating the apparent hit-and-run crash, police were approached by a woman who reported that she was driving a grey 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck the male victim.

The woman, identified as 39-year-old Kimberly Burch, of Surfside, was placed under arrest but further investigation revealed it was actually her husband, 37-year-old Daniel Burch, also of Surfside, who was driving and fled the scene after the collision.

Both individuals were placed under arrest for their involvement in the fatal hit-and-run crash.

It was not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
