11.21.2020 | 10:01 PM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – A group of over a hundred people gathered to protest a curfew enacted across southern California amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, Saturday night.
The group called the “Curfew Breakers” gathered at the base of the Huntington Beach Pier near the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway shortly before 10:00 PM.
The peaceful group gathered and expressed their displeasure with the curfew order enacted by Governor Gavin Newsom which requires anyone performing non-essential activities to remain at home between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM.
Some vehicles passing by honked their horns in support of the protest while others were adorned with flags and circled the area as part of the protest.
The protest continued for at least one hour past the curfew but no arrests or police intervention was reported.
Several similar protests took place at the same time in Yorba Linda and San Clemente.
