Garden Grove: Three Injured Including Two Shot Inside Hot Lounge & Restaurant

05.27.2023 | 11:36 PM | GARDEN GROVE – Three people were injured, including two who were shot, inside a restaurant and lounge, late Saturday night.

The double shooting was reported at The Hot Lounge & Restaurant, located in the 12900 block of Magnolia Street, around 11:36 PM.

When authorities arrived they located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside the restaurant and detained a number of patrons.

Medics treated both male gunshot victims at the scene before rushing them to an area trauma center in critical condition. Both shooting victims were described as male Vietnamese adults in their 40s.

A third individual sustained unspecified injuries to his lower torso and was also transported to an area hospital where he was in stable condition.

Police say the shooting stemmed from an altercation inside the restaurant and that the suspect, described only as a male Vietnamese in his 40s from Orange County, was detained by patrons.

Video shows officers using physical force against one of the detained patrons who repeatedly asked the officer’s for their names although it was unclear if that individual was the suspect.

A large area surrounding the restaurant, including southbound lanes of Magnolia Street, were cordoned off with crime scene tape.

Police at the scene refused to release any information at the scene and one sergeant suggested that the department would not circulate a press release or any information regarding the shooting but it was unclear why.

Despite claims by the sergeant on scene a press release was distributed hours later providing additional information regarding the shooting.
