05.01.2022 | 1:00 AM | GARDEN GROVE – A SWAT team arrested a man following an hours-long standoff inside a business, police announced Sunday.

The SWAT team arrested 31-year-old Reynaldo Valencia, of Anaheim, after deploying chemical agents into a bathroom where Valencia had been holed up for hours.

Valencia reportedly prompted the standoff after he barricaded himself in the bathroom following a knife attack on a person in the 14000 block of Euclid Street shortly after 4:43 PM.

After providing multiple opportunities to surrender and hours of failed negotiation attempts, the SWAT team deployed chemical agents. Valencia subsequently surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

The extent of injuries sustained by the victim of the knife attack were not immediately known.

No motive for the attack was immediately released.
