Garden Grove: Suspected DUI Crash Leaves Neighborhood Without Power

08.25.2019 | 1:48 AM | GARDEN GROVE – A neighborhood was without power after a suspected DUI driver crashed into a utility pole and downed power lines, early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a pole near the intersection of Orangewood Avenue and Jacalene Lane around 1:48 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a white Honda sedan that had struck a utility pole.

The male Asian driver was injured but alert and transported by firefighter paramedics to a nearby trauma center in unknown condition.

Police are investigating the role of drugs or alcohol as potential factors in the collision.

The impact of the crash sheared the utility pole from its base and downed power lines in the process.

Initial reports indicated over a thousand customers were without power as a result of the crash.

Southern California Edison was on scene working tirelessly to restore power to nearby intersections and residences.

All lanes of Orangewood Avenue between Jacalene and Kathy lanes were closed until further notice.
