Garden Grove: Crash Leaves One Dead, Three Injured

10.29.2023 | 12:05 AM | GARDEN GROVE – One person was killed and three others were seriously injured when a vehicle collided with a tree, early Sunday morning.

The traffic collision involving a tree was reported shortly after midnight in the 12900 block of Newhope Street.

When authorities arrived on scene they located a single vehicle that sustained major damage after colliding with a tree.

Four victims from the vehicle were evaluated by firefighter paramedics, unfortunately one of the occupants, a 20-year-old male resident of Garden Grove, was pronounced deceased.

Thee other victims, a 18-year-old male resident of Anaheim, a 17-year-old female Anaheim resident, and another 20-year-old male resident of Garden Grove believed to be the driver, were all rushed to nearby trauma centers in critical but stable condition.

Police said the driver was cooperative and that the potential role of drugs or alcohol is being investigated.

The crash prompted the closure of both directions of Newhope Street while authorities investigated.
