The collision was reported on the westbound SR-22 Freeway west of Euclid Street around 12:09 AM.

When authorities arrived they found four vehicles scattered across the freeway including two vehicles blocking lanes.

Medics treated three patients from the crash including one man who was reportedly struck by a vehicle when exiting his car. All patients were transported to UCI Medical Center in unknown condition though each appeared conscious.

While attending to the scene a black BMW with smoke coming from its engine bay stopped at the scene. Firefighters used a fire extinguished to douse the BMW’s engine bay and prevent any potential fire.

The cause of the chain-reaction crash remains under investigation.
