08.19.2021 | 8:00 PM | FOUNTAIN VALLEY – A SWAT team raided an illegal gambling establishment to serve a search warrant and detained several suspects in the process, Thursday night.
The search warrant service took place shortly after 8:00 PM at a home in the 9100 block of Caladium Avenue.
Officers were led to the location after receiving reports that the home was operating as an illegal gambling establishment often referred to as a ‘slap house.’
After a months long investigation police received a warrant to search the home.
Due the the dangerous nature of slap houses and their occupants, officers requested the assistance of a SWAT team to execute the search warrant.
The SWAT team along with detectives detained about 10 individuals from the home.
Gambling machines were also discovered inside but a complete search of the home was still underway.
It is unclear what charges the operators of the illegal gambling business or its patrons might face.
