01.15.2022 | 5:39 AM | FOUNTAIN VALLEY – A 32-year-old woman was arrested after a hit-and-run crash that killed a 71-year-old bicyclist, Saturday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a crash involving a bicyclist down in the southbound lanes of Euclid Street just north of Heil Avenue around 5:39 AM.
When units arrived on scene they found a male bicyclist, later identified as 71-year-old Liem Bui, of Santa Ana, down in lanes after being struck by a motor vehicle. Paramedics pronounced Bui deceased on scene.
The vehicle that struck Bui fled the scene without stopping but was later located by traffic investigators in the city of Westminster.
Based on their investigation police arrested the vehicle’s driver, 32-year-old Amanda Lee Martin, of Fountain Valley, on suspicion of felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Martin, who was booked into the OC Jail and held in lieu of $100,000 bail, was still seated in the driver’s seat of her vehicle when she was apprehended by authorities, police said.
