Fountain Valley: DUI Driver Collides With Police Vehicle at Fatal Crash Scene

05.25.2025 | 11:09 PM | FOUNTAIN VALLEY – A suspected DUI driver collided with a police vehicle while authorities were attending to the scene of a fatal collision involving a pedestrian, late Sunday night.

The incident began to unfold as authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a grey Toyota Corolla and a pedestrian at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Los Jardines Street around 11:09 PM.

At the scene first responders located a 35-year-old female, later identified as Alexandra Payerli, of Santa Ana, down in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Medics rushed Payerli to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Toyota, a 17-year-old male resident of Westminster, remained on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement.

While units were attending to the scene a silver Jeep SUV collided with a marked police vehicle that had its emergency lights activated. No injuries were reported but both vehicles sustained major damage.

The driver of the Jeep was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Traffic in the area was closed for hours while police investigated the incidents.
