Fountain Valley: Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit By Truck

07.05.2022 | 4:15 PM | FOUNTAIN VALLEY – A 73-year-old bicyclist died after he was hit by a pickup truck, Tuesday morning.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Garfield Avenue when the driver of a silver Ford F-350 struck the bicyclist around 6:57 AM on Tuesday, police said.

Authorities located a bicyclist, later identified as 73-year-old Dac Them Kieu, of Fountain Valley, down at the scene and rushed him to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver that struck the bicyclist, a 65-year-old Huntington Beach man, remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

Initial reports indicate the driver of the Ford was making a left turn from Garfield onto northbound Brookhurst when he collided with the bicyclist traveling eastbound along the north curb line crosswalk of Garfield.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash, police added.
