06.13.2021 | 9:59 PM | EL MODENA – One person was injured after a series of fights that prompted a large police presence, late Sunday night.
Officers from the Orange Police Department responded to reports of a fight in the 500 block of South Hewes Street, near El Modena Park, shortly before 10:00 PM.
Moments later a second call reporting a fight prompted Orange County Sheriff’s deputies to respond to the intersection of East Pearl Avenue and Earlham Street, less than a mile from the first fight.
Preliminary information suggests that individuals connected to the first fight went to the second location where they confronted a person they believed had been involved in the initial fight.
A second fight broke out and a person who was reportedly armed fled on foot prompting a large police presence as they attempted to contain the suspect.
That suspect was described as hispanic male adult in his 20s wearing a black hat, brown and white checkered shirt, and black jeans. He was last seen fleeing southbound.
After an intensive search the armed suspect was not located and officers cleared the scene.
A victim from one of the fights was found near a home in the 300 block of North Earlham Street and treated by firefighter paramedics before being transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The circumstances that lead up to the fights remain under investigation.
