El Modena: Hit & Run Crash Involving Vehicle With Gunshot Damage Prompts Investigation

05.12.2023 | 11:35 PM | EL MODENA – A hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle with gunshot damage prompted an investigation that saturated the area with law enforcement, Friday night.

The traffic collision was reported around 11:35 PM at the intersection of South Esplanade Street and East Pearl Avenue near El Modena High School.

At the scene authorities discovered a white 2002 Honda Civic that had collided with a parked silver Honda Pilot.

The Honda was left abandoned and had damage from what was believed to be gunfire, though police said it was unclear where or when any shots might have been fired.

A police helicopter searched the area and several individuals were seen being interviewed by law enforcement but no arrests were reported.

One person who was being treated at Chapman Global Medical Center a short distance away was possibly connected with the incident and being interviewed by law enforcement.

The extent of the injured person’s injuries or involvement in the incident was unknown.
