01.12.2025 | 8:40 PM | COSTA MESA – A wild police pursuit ended with a women being taken into police custody thanks to the assistance of an armored vehicle and PepperBalls, Sunday night.
The pursuit began when Newport Beach police attempted to stop a suspected stolen pickup truck sometime around 8:40 PM.
The female driver of the truck failed to yield, leading officers on a pursuit into Costa Mesa where she reportedly struck other vehicles including a police cruiser as the vehicle flung sparks.
Eventually officers were able to stop the truck and pin it in place with the use of an armored vehicle near the intersection of West 19th Street and Newport Boulevard.
Still the driver failed to surrender leading to the deployment of PepperBalls, a paintball like projectile filled with a substance similar to pepper spray.
Upon the deployment of PepperBalls the female driver was forcibly removed from the vehicle and later transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Police refused to provide further information regarding the pursuit.
