Costa Mesa: Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck By Uber Driver

02.26.2022 | 1:41 AM | COSTA MESA – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by an Uber driver, early Saturday morning.

The collision involving a pedestrian was reported on Newport Boulevard just south of East 17th Street around 1:41 AM.

At the scene authorities found a grey 2010 Toyota Prius with Uber livery and major front-end damage along with a pedestrian down.

Firefighter paramedics treated the pedestrian on scene before rushing them to a nearby hospital.

The condition of the pedestrian was not immediately known although police said there was no fatalities or arrests made in connection with the incident.

A man believed to be the Uber driver remained on scene and appeared to be cooperating with law enforcement.

All southbound lanes of Newport Boulevard were closed for hours at East 17th Street while authorities investigated.
