Costa Mesa: Multi-Vehicle MCI Crash Injures Three

09.16.2020 | 11:50 PM | COSTA MESA – A multi-vehicle crash left three people injured but several others, including a small child, were spared from injury, late Wednesday night.

Authorities responded to the reported crash involving multiple vehicles at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and East 17th Street around 11:50 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a four-car crash blocking northbound lanes of Newport Boulevard with several vehicles suffering from significant damage.

Firefighter paramedics evaluated multiple parties from the crash and transported at least three to area hospitals for treatment.

A small child and several other individuals were visibly shaken but were spared from serious injury.

An MCI, or mass casualty incident, was declared due to the number of involved parties involved in the incident but no fatalities were reported.

All northbound lanes of Newport Boulevard were closed at 16th Street while authorities investigated the cause of the crash.
